"Desert Racing? From New Jersey?"

It adds to the challenge and is just another obstacle to overcome.

The decision to enter desert racing came from the same desire that drives every adventure — the lure and excitement of the unknown.

The prospect of desert racing is a departure from my daily programming duties at Kodiak Systems in Piscataway, NJ. I'm always on the lookout for new experiences, from rock climbing to snowboarding to kiteboarding. The inspiration to enter the Baja 1000 came to me during a congested NJ morning commute in my 4x4 and I've run with it ever since.

Devils Tower
To me, Devils Tower represents how the most challenging experiences enhance a life. During a solo cross-country motorcycle trip in 2005, I made a stop at Devils Tower Lodge with an interest in rock climbing. After a morning of indoor instruction and an afternoon of practice, a guide named John Walker took me and my fear of heights up the Durrance Route to the summit. The postcard image on the main page was taken at 6:15am the morning of the summit climb, and I continue to look for that same thrill with each new adventure.
